DJES BÈL
i help my clients get what they want out of themselves and their lives.
my favorite part of my work is helping people get to know themselves better—it is only when we truly know ourselves that we can know what we want, and it is only when we know what we want that we can get it.
i told a skeptical client recently that i have no formal training or certifications. he responded "then why should i trust you to help me?"
simple answer? because i have helped myself.
short story: i had a tough childhood & now i have a beautiful life.
slightly longer story:
i was 11 the first time i thought about killing myself. i was 33 and a first-time single mother the last time i thought about killing myself.
my childhood and teenage years were full of trauma. in my 20s, i retraumatized myself as often as i could without even realizong because i didn't know any better.
at the same time:
i was 11 when i started studying yoga & buddhism. that was also the year i saw il postino and fell in love with poetry. when i was 13 i became a peer advisor, underwent training to become a compassionate listener and realized i love helping people with teir pain. when i was 14, i saw the film basquiat and fell in love with jean-michel himself, his work and the idea that i too could be an artist. by 16 i was winning awards in poetry & art, i did yoga instead of a sport in the afternoons and my i sat regularly with music teacher, a lifelong practitioner of buddhism, to talk about our mutual favorite movie, why has bodhidharma left for the east. i continued holding space for my peers for all four years of high school.
i spent my 20s trying to escape my past & my pain. i suffered a number of depressive fits, bouts with eating disorders that made me sick & weak, self harm, substance abuse, years of vagracy & couch surfing, problematic sexual relationships. you name it, i went through it.
all the while i was building towards the present, gathering wisdom that to bring me to joy, but i didn't know it.
in my 30s i became a mother, and the day i found out about my son, i committed myself to being an artist and making art every single day.
when my son was 11 months old, i ran my first healing arts workshop, gathering others to sit with me for exercises in bookbinding, painting & poetry aimed at releasing all of us from the fetters of trauma. two years later, my life coach, with whom i've been working for over ten years now, said i was ready to be a coach. in the time since then, i have shared my writings, art, stories and advice through social media and provided presence as a coach in person and via video and text calls with those looking to increase the enjoyment in their day to day lives.
i know that you are like me, that through your own experience with pain, trauma and binding emotional experiences, you have been gathering exactly all of what you need to get into the sort of life you'd like to be living.
you already have the tools, i'm here to help you use them.
